You may be reading this thinking what is a cambelt and a drive belt? Fear not – read below:
What is a Cambelt?
A timing belt (aka cambelt) is a rubber belt that works in conjunction with the rotation of the camshaft and crankshaft of your vehicle.
Consequently, the car engine’s valves close and open at the right times. The moment at which the valves open and closes influences engine performance, emissions, and fuel economy – so accurate timing is essential.
All Cambelts have their own replacement intervals. Exceeding these intervals will have the potential to snapping and destroying your engine – resulting in MUCH, MUCH costlier repairs and nobody likes that, not us and not our wonderful clients.
Below is a time frame we recommend for Renault cars:
- If your Renault is more than 5 years old
- If your Renault has covered more than 60k miles
Changing the cambelt on this Renault Clio, ensured that a costly repair bill down the line has been avoided. For more information on our cambelt services – please click here.
What is a Drive belt?
The drive belt, is a belt on you cars engine that works with various elements of your engine such as:
- the idler,
- tensioner, and
- pulleys inside the accessory drive belt system.
Your drive belt is responsible for providing power for your cars air conditioning, alternator, power steering, and sometimes the cooling system water pump. So it’s important!
